The 2017 Basic Payment rates have been announced. Increased entitlement rates and the drop in the value of the pound will lead to a boost in BPS income for 2017.
According to the Farm minister, George Eustace, coupled with the favourable BPS exchange rate, basic payments will be worth 25% more on average this year, compared to 2015.
2017 Payment rates
|Payment region||Entitlement value*||Greening payment rate*|
|Non-SDA (Severely Disadvantaged area)||€180.46||€77.69|
|*The 2017 exchange rate is: €1 = £0.89470.

RPA will be making BPS 2017 payments from 1 December, followed by a remittance advice in the post confirming the amount paid. They will also send a Claim Statement by post explaining how they calculated the final value of your claim. Any anomalies should be queried with the RPA as soon as possible after receiving the claim statement and checking it against your BPS claim and new mapping data available on-line.
If you don’t receive a payment in December the ‘payment window’ runs until the end of June 2018, but the RPA will try to make payments as soon as possible.
Some types of claims typically take longer to complete. Although not a full list, these tend to include:
- ‘Cross border’ claims
- Claims where Inspections have or will occur
- Claims including Commons
