An exciting development opportunity on the site of the former Bellingham Auction Mart
Bellingham Auction Mart site comprises a former Auction Mart within a central location in Bellingham which ceased operating in 2004 and extends to 1.88 ha (4.65 acres). The village lies approximately 15 miles north of Hexham and 40 miles east of Newcastle upon Tyne. It serves as a local centre for surrounding villages and is in close proximity to the Northumberland Forest National Park. The site is within a short walking distance of all amenities within the village centre.
The site is accessed from the B6320. It is currently vacant and has been cleared of the agricultural sheds and pens associated with its former use. It has elevated views across open countryside and Bellingham Golf Course and is bordered to three sides by housing. An existing pedestrian footpath runs along the southern boundary.
The site was the subject of an outline planning application in 2005 and was granted outline consent for residential development on 25 October 2005 (ref: 2005/0571). The application was subject to the terms of a s106 legal agreement to secure affordable housing at a level of 20% of the total number of units on site together with the provision of an on-site local play area and an off-site contribution towards recreational play and sports facilities.
A reserve matters application was granted consent on 21 February 2008 for the construction of 65 dwellings together with the construction of a public car park and play area. (ref: 20071304)
The site can either be pursued as a single development, or as has been proposed in the past, divided into 7 parcels of land each for 7/8 units.
Please note: Bellingham Auction Mart is owned by a party related to Northern Rural
